In short, strategic planning determines where an organization in the next year or so, how are you and how you will know whether it got there or not. The purpose of a strategic plan is usually on the entire organization, while the middle of a business plan is usually to a specific product, service or program.
There are a variety of perspectives, models and approaches used in strategic planning.
